Pinkster 2024

TRANSART & Cultural Services Inc.

PRODUCER

Pinkster is the oldest black holiday in the United States, a Dutch Pentecost tradition that transformed into vibrant African celebration. The holiday thrived throughout the 1700's, a brief reprieve amidst the horrors of enslavement.

For TRANSART Inc.'s third annual Pinkster celebration I produced three days of uplifting programming and incorporated new elements of wellness, spirituality, and community involvement. The highlight of the event was a special rest sermon delivered by Tricia Hersey, New York Times Bestselling Author of "Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto" and founder of The Nap Ministry.

Attendance doubled from last year with over 400 people joinging to share the join and learn about this often overlooked history.
